On May 14, at 2:00 PM, Casa VIVA+ Engenheiro António Oliveira will be inaugurated at Rovisco Pais Hospital, in Tocha, municipality of Cantanhede. This project represents an investment of over 16 million euros and brings together health, housing, and technology to address the challenges of an ageing population, positioning Portugal at the forefront of innovation in health within the built environment.
Casa VIVA+, Eng. António Oliveira, located at Rovisco Pais Hospital, is a laboratory dedicated to the design, development, and evaluation of innovative solutions that promote people’s health and well-being in built environments. It places people at the center of spatial design, fostering a dignified, autonomous, and safe life in their own homes. This event also serves as a tribute to Eng. António Oliveira (1953–2025). The Casa now being inaugurated embodies his vision that innovation in the built environment is a key pillar for improving quality of life and strengthening the country’s capacity to respond to the demographic and economic challenges associated with population ageing.
