The IBERTRIVA 2025 Conference was held on 17 June at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, and was attended by Maria João Sá Pereira from the University of Aveiro, with presentations on ‘Laser-Assisted Gilding of Decorative Textured Ceramic Flooring’ and "Surface Texturing and Functionalisation of Ceramic Flooring ," both by authors Maria João Sá Pereira, Gonçalo Marques, João Fontoura, Afonso Lopes, Nuno Ferreira, Florinda Costa, all from the University of Aveiro, and João Paulo and Jorge Girão, both from Revigrés. In the first presentation, the work plan involved the localised application of gold paste on porcelain stoneware using a CO₂ laser, varying the laser parameters (power, speed, number of passes, pitch), evaluating the reflectance of the gilded areas by spectrophotometric measurement, analysing the adhesion of the metallic layer as a function of the deposition conditions, and validating the method as a technical and aesthetic alternative to conventional processes. and in the second, the application of CO₂ laser texturing on two types of ceramic flooring (glazed and technical),  variation of laser parameters (power, speed) to generate different surface patterns, evaluation of surface roughness by 3D profilometry, study of wettability by measuring contact and flow angles, determination of the coefficient of friction and optical reflectance, and analysis of the effects of texturing on the functional properties of the treated surfaces.  These actions took place within the scope of WP4 – Project 25 “High-Thickness Ceramic Floor Tiles”.

Ricardo Serra from the University of Coimbra, with the poster, ‘Analysis of Corrosion Mechanisms in Copper Tubes of Water Heaters’ by authors Zohra Benzarti, Mirela Santos, Sandra Cruz, António Fonseca, Filipa Pascoal, Alexandre Bastos, Joao Tedim, Albano Cavaleiro, Sandra Carvalho, and Ricardo Serra. This action took place within the scope of WP2 – Proj. 10 ‘Development of components for domestic hot water heaters, in anticipation of the energy transition/electrification of the economy’.
