CMD31 is an international conference covering all aspects of Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Physics, including hard and soft condensed matter physics, liquid physics, biophysics, materials science, quantum physics, low temperature physics, strongly correlated materials, semiconductor physics, magnetism, superconductivity, surface and interface physics, the electronic, optical, structural and mechanical properties of materials, acoustics, disordered media, materials applications, among others. Other related topics are also considered, such as interdisciplinarity and the development of research infrastructures in Europe.

Tiago Fernandes and Gabriel Santiago Marques, both from i3N and the Department of Physics of the University of Aveiro, participated in this conference respectively with the Oral communication: ‘Remarkable recovery of proton-irradiated Cu(In,Ga)Se2 based solar cells for space applications: thermal annealing and light soaking treatments’, by the authors T. V. Fernandes, P. T. Patrício, A. F. Cunha, J. P. Gaspar, N. Catarino, M. Peres, K. Lorenz, J. P. Teixeira, P. M. P. Salomé and J. P. Leitão. Leitão, and the poster ‘Aerosolised Luminescent Nanoparticles as Optical Probes in Leakage Detection Systems’ by the authors G. Marques, S.O. Pereira, J. Rodrigues, A. R. F. Carreira, L. Rino, J. P. Leitão, B. P. Falcão. There was a visit to INL's facilities, a presentation of results relating to optical characterisation by photoluminescence of semiconductor materials, data and image processing, and a discussion with experts on optical characterisation techniques complementary to photoluminescence."

These initiatives took place as part of WP 1 - Project #1 ‘Heat Pumps’, and the conference was held between 2 and 6 September 2024 in the city of Braga, Portugal.
