On October 4th, the Sustainable Habitat Cluster organized, within the scope of Aveiro Tech Week, the Workshop "Carbon Neutrality associated with the Buildings sector", an event that brought together some of the partners of the PRR ILLIANCE Agenda to discuss the challenges and solutions for reducing the carbon footprint of buildings.
The opening session was led by Prof. Victor Ferreira (President of the Sustainable Habitat Cluster), who highlighted the importance of sustainability in the Habitat value chain and the need for collaborative initiatives to address environmental challenges.
Next, Nelson Ferreira (Bosch Thermotechnology) presented "The challenges of the ILLIANCE Agenda for Sustainability", highlighting the goals and strategies of the Agenda to promote energy efficiency and carbon neutrality in buildings, addressing technological advances and the demands of the constantly changing market.
This presentation was followed by a Panel, moderated by the Sustainable Habitat Cluster, where the theme of this workshop was discussed in more detail. The panel included interventions by Eng. Márcia Pereira (Bandora), who highlighted the importance of digitalization in energy management, Eng. Miguel Rocha (CeNTI), who addressed some of the solutions for the energy efficiency of buildings, such as i4Roofs, by Eng. Bruno Lobo (Saint-Gobain Portugal), who presented several sustainable solutions, as well as an analysis of trends in the construction sector and, finally, Prof. Romeu Vicente (University of Aveiro), who presented the challenges of decarbonizing buildings, through innovative solutions in materials and construction technologies.
The workshop ended with the closing session, which included the intervention of Dr. João Machado (Councilor of the Municipality of Aveiro), who underlined the relevance of reinforcing the commitment of the city and the country to sustainability and innovation in the construction and rehabilitation of urban spaces.
